'Wynyard' Collection
This 1409 Dinky Simca 1800 was sample production. After the very small initial batch Meccano decided to change the name to Chrysler 180 for the production. These were not released till the re-engraved baseplates were available. At this point boxes had not been printed so somewhere there may only be artwork for the Simca 1800.
About 50 of these ended up at 'Modelisme' in Paris, the shop's owner was Jaques Greilsamer - he was one of the largest Dinky suppliers in France at the time & was either offered or requested to sell these pre production rejects by Meccano. It's not known if any other shops sold these but a school of thought is that Modelisme sold or gave away their allocation & a few examples were retained by Meccano.
